LEGO launches a new blue variant of the LEGO Technic Bugatti Bolide Agile.

Bugatti Bolide Agile in the new blue colour scheme.

I recall when the first version of the Bugatti Bolide was released on January 1, 2023, and I was tinged with disappointment. For me, the black and yellow scheme was excellent but didn’t appeal.

However, the introduction of the blue version evokes a stronger association with the Hypercar brand, and I love the change. (I would have loved a deeper blue colour, but that is only a minor comment.)

This new model has the same number of pieces and is priced equivalently. With 905 pieces available for €49.99 European pricing, it presents a reasonable value, especially compared to other Technic sets offering fewer bricks at higher prices.

For those who already own the initial version, the availability of a second colour variation presents both a blessing and a curse. Owning two LEGO hypercar models with different hues would create a stunning display. However, if unaware of LEGO's plan to release the blue version, enthusiasts may find themselves needing to invest an additional $50 to acquire it. Still, the prospect of obtaining two substantial LEGO sets for only $100 appears to be an enticing offer, provided one can overlook the fact that both models are essentially the same Technic car, differing solely in colour.

Similar to its predecessor, this model features a miniaturized version of the iconic W16 engine that can be assembled and observed from the exterior. True to the Technic line's hallmark, the engine incorporates functioning pistons, which move alongside the wheels when the car is in motion. Of course, no hypercar would be complete without its signature scissor doors, and this LEGO rendition faithfully includes them, paying homage to the essential design element found in hypercars, particularly those with multi-million-dollar price tags.

As expected from a LEGO Technic set, a generous assortment of stickers is included. Unfortunately, all the pieces resembling carbon fibre are represented by stickers, which may prove bothersome over time as they are prone to deterioration and potential detachment. You may also notice the absence of a small but significant detail—the CSR sticker typically found on both sides of the car seems to be omitted.
